How Fram’s piggy bank helps your child
Saving is hard when cravings pop up everywhere. This game turns that struggle into something you can practice.
How it’s played
Money falls and your child moves the piggy bank to catch it until they reach their goal. Each time they fill a third of the meter, a distraction arrives: cravings fall and the piggy bank has to dodge them. If one gets in, part of the savings is lost.
What they’re learning
They see with their own eyes that a craving takes money away from their goal, and they practice saying no in time. It also trains attention and coordination, and the patience to move little by little toward something they want.
Ideas to keep going at home
- Pick a savings goal together and draw a meter to color in each time they put money away.
- When they ask for something on a whim, ask: "Do you want it more than your goal?"
- Use a clear jar as a piggy bank: watching it fill up keeps them going.
Connection to the book
The game is inspired by "Impulsivamente". Fram spends all his money on whims while Blu saves for something he really wants. Read the book together and talk about the difference between a passing craving and a goal.
