For parents and caregivers

Why do activities as a family

Family activities are the heart of the Mora method: after reading a story, turning its lesson into something you do together is what makes it real learning. Here you will find simple recipes and activities, with no special materials, to do at home with children ages 4 to 10. They can all be adapted to the ages and interests of each family.

What they learn

Cooking, building a plate or completing a challenge together teaches children to follow instructions, measure, wait, take turns and work as a team. These are skills that are not learned by watching a screen or reading a book, but by doing them, and children use them every day at school and with their friends.

How to get ready

  • Pick an unhurried moment, like a weekend or a free afternoon.
  • Read the instructions together before you start.
  • Share the tasks according to age, always with an adult present.
  • When you finish, talk about what you learned and how you felt.

Connection to the books

Each activity comes from a Mora book: Sandi’s plate comes from "Cambio de Ritmo" and the cookies from Ina’s entrepreneurial spirit in "Tarro de Galletas". Read the story before or after the activity so the lesson makes even more sense.

Ideas to invent your own

  • Make Sunday breakfast together and let your child choose the menu.
  • Set up a "store" at home with prices to practice money, like Titi in "Papelitos de Colores".
  • Plant a flower or an herb and take care of it together.
  • Plan a family walk or exercise circuit, like Sandi and his dad.
  • Write or draw a different ending for your favorite story together.

By age

With children ages 4 to 6, choose short, concrete tasks: pouring, mixing, sorting or counting. Between 7 and 10, they can read the instructions, measure and make small decisions on their own. At any age, what matters is that they truly take part and feel their contribution counts.
