How Ina's Cookie Shop helps your child
In the story Tarro de Galletas, Ina sells cookies to buy her guitar. This game brings both things together: creating something of your own and offering it to others.
How to play
First your child decorates the cookies: picks the shape, the icing color, the topping and a face, seeing each option on the cookie before choosing it. Then they open Ina's stand: each friend asks with pictures for what they want (a color, a shape or a topping) and your child gives them the matching cookie. The more creative the cookie, the more the friend likes it: it earns hearts and a tip for the jar. If it's not the right one, the friend shows again what they're looking for, with no penalty. On easy they ask for a color, on medium for any one thing and on hard for two things at once.
What they're learning
Decorating their own way builds confidence to create and make choices. At the stand they practice observation and paying attention to several features at once (shape, color, topping), a foundation of logical thinking. And they discover an early entrepreneurship idea: what we make has value when it meets what others need.
Ideas to keep going at home
- Bake or decorate cookies together and ask them to tell you how they want them.
- Play store: you ask for "a round cookie with sprinkles" and your child finds it.
- If they want something, think together about what they could make or sell to save up, like Ina.
A tip from Mora: play together for a short while, 5 to 10 minutes, and talk when you finish. Screens work best as a starting point for family conversations rather than as a solo activity: real learning happens in the conversation, which is the heart of the Mora method.
