How Mora’s band helps your child
Music trains the brain in a fun way. In this activity your child builds their own band, composes a song and performs it at a concert.
How it’s played
First they pick the characters for the band and then give each one an instrument. With the band ready, they turn on squares in a grid: each row is a musician and each square is a beat. Pressing “Play” loops the song, and they can change it while it plays. When it’s ready, the band plays it three times for the audience and an applause bar fills up depending on how well the instruments are combined: rhythm with melody, different instruments, everyone playing and not too many notes.
What they’re learning
While composing, your child recognizes patterns, tells sounds apart and discovers how instruments combine. Trying, listening and adjusting works on careful listening, a sense of rhythm and the confidence to create something of their own.
To keep going at home
- Ask them to show you their song and tell you why they chose each instrument.
- Play along with claps or with a pot and a spoon.
- Play echo: you clap a few times and your child repeats it.
A tip from Mora: play together for a short while, 5 to 10 minutes, and talk when you finish. Screens work best as a starting point for family conversations rather than as a solo activity: real learning happens in the conversation, which is the heart of the Mora method.
