How Sandi’s Room helps your child
Tidying up is a habit, and as in the book Cambio de Ritmo, habits change best when they’re fun. This game turns picking up the room into a challenge with a song.
How to play
Mr. Pat puts on a song and there are toys, books and clothes all over the floor. Your child drags each thing to its box (or taps it and then taps the box) before the song ends. If it goes in the wrong box, it goes back to the floor, with no penalty. Easy has two boxes, medium three, and hard more things and a shorter song.
What they are learning
Sorting into categories is one of the first thinking skills: grouping what is alike and separating what is different. The song gives a clear time limit without pressure and shows that tidying up can be quick. Dragging also builds coordination.
Ideas to keep going at home
- Put on a song and play at tidying the real room before it ends.
- Use boxes or baskets with a picture of what goes inside, so your child knows where each thing goes.
- Celebrate the tidy room: that way the habit becomes something good.
A tip from Mora: play together for a short while, 5 to 10 minutes, and talk when you finish. Screens work best as a starting point for family conversations rather than as a solo activity: real learning happens in the conversation, which is the heart of the Mora method.
